Templeton Farmers Market

Templeton Farmers Market

For locals, the Farmers’ Market in Templeton, is a taste of home. On Saturday mornings the sidewalk around the deeply shaded Templeton park is crowded with shoppers ogling the luscious-looking locally-grown produce. Samples are freely given : juicy, sweet strawberries, chunks of incredible, dry-farmed watermelon, See Canyon apples, almond brittle, luscious yellow and white peaches, and crisp Shinseki Asian pears. The flowers and produce are so beautiful that it’s a shame not to bring a camera to capture the rich, brilliant color. Rainbow bunches of perfectly uniform roses practically jump into your arms. You cannot leave this display of Central Coast bounty without taking some of it with you. There’s always music, too. Whether it’s a three woman a capella group called, ”Too Young to Marry,” or a young, local violin virtuoso, the Templeton Park on Saturday mornings is filled with lilting sounds adding another pleasurable element to this feast for the senses.
