Santa Margarita Lake

The prime water source for San Luis Obispo County, Santa Margarita Lake is a reservoir and while boating and fishing are allowed, swimming and waterskiing are not. Santa Margarita Lake is also known as the Salinas Reservoir and provides drinking water for the city of San Luis Obispo. The Santa Margarita Regional Park surrounding the lake has miles of hiking and horse trails and much of the park is open space. The lake is stocked with trout, black bass, crappie, catfish, and bluegill. Fishing is good here on this peaceful lake, either from a boat or canoe or from the shore.
