Paso Robles is the fastest growing city in San Luis Obispo County with a current population of about 32,000 residents. Homes here are more affordable than cities in the southern part of the county, especially San Luis Obispo, 30 miles to its south. Before the 1940’s, Paso Robles’ population held steady at 3,000 until the U.S. Army established nearby Fort Hunter-Liggett, their Western training center.

Most residents of Paso are white (82%) and the next highest group are classified as Hispanic of any race, at 32.9 % of the population. In fact, Paso Robles has the highest Hispanic population of any city in San Luis Obispo County. The median age is fairly young at 33.2 years. This is a community of young families.
